About Gary Gattis

Gary Gattis helps families and schools understand the systems shaping children’s attention, choices, identity, and judgment.

He brings an unusual perspective to this work: former game and technology insider, parent, and school board member.

Gary co-founded Spacetime Studios, where his team built the world's first 3D mobile MMO and amassed more than 50 million downloads. He later led AI-powered satellite systems at Hypergiant and built game-based simulations for the Department of Defense.

He spent decades building systems designed to capture and hold attention. Now he helps families understand how those systems work.

The goal is to help children build the awareness, recovery, judgment, and agency they need to use technology on their own terms.

Where this comes from

I spent three decades building products designed to pull people in and keep them there.

Games, engagement loops, free-to-play mechanics, AI systems. I know how they work because I helped build them.

As a parent, that understanding became personal.

My two older sons grew up during the rise of social media and smartphones. My youngest is growing up in a world where screens, feeds, games, group chats, and AI are woven into childhood from the start.

This is the work I needed as a parent: clear language, practical tools, and a way to help children grow strong enough to use technology with judgment and self-direction.

No family should have to figure this out alone.

Parents should not have to understand game design, engagement loops, AI systems, or attention economics to help their children. Children should not have to grow up inside these systems without understanding where they come from or how they work.

My mission is to make those systems visible enough that families can respond with more clarity, confidence, and intention.
